Coast Guard Check

Boat checks are COMPULSORY for all boats fishing in Club Competitions. These can be done by the Coastguard for $15 if you are not a Coastguard member. If you would like to join the Coastguard the cost is $35, with that you get a free boat check and one free tow per year. This is a great deal as tows normally cost $280 per hour.

The following items must be present:

Ø      Flares                                           

Ø      Fire Extinguisher

Ø      Knife/Hacksaw

Ø      Navigation Lights

Ø      Torch

Ø      Anchor/Chain

Ø      Boat Name

Ø      Life Jackets

Ø      First Aid Kit

Ø      Bucket/Bailer

Ø      Compass

Ø      VHF Marine Radio

Ø      Mooring Line

The following items are strongly recommended:

Ø      Boat name on trailer

Ø      EPIRB (406mHz)

Ø      Alternative Power – Oars/Aux Engine

Ø      GPS, Alternative Communications
